Tip of the Week

The term 'witch' has a long history. Witches were wise women who used medicines available in nature, such as herbs, to heal and help others. However, the term was also used to refer to those who did not follow the approved religious doctrine at various historical periods. A witch was then seen as evil and heretical. A number of psychic practices were thought to be carried out by witches, including astrology, raising spirits and chanting incantations.
No-one knows for sure how many Wiccans there are, but recent estimates suggest that there could be as many as 408,000 adults in the US. Many Wiccans now offer spirituality advice and personal counseling online.
