The Tarot is a pack of 78 cards used for divination. The cards feature pictures and symbols. There are 56 cards in four suits which symbolize actions, emotions, intellect and material concerns. The other 22 cards show archetypes and elemental forces. Although there is some sporadic association of Tarot cards with divination and witchcraft in the 16th to 18th centuries, the cards only became a true part of occult philosophy in the 18th century, when people sought spiritual advice and personal counseling from Tarot card readers. Tarot cards are still commonly used today by psychics and mystics offering spiritual advice and personal counseling.
